Spring arrived early in Blaye, lush yet challenging, with persistent rains bringing mildew pressure that demanded constant vigilance in the vineyards. As summer settled in, warmth returned to the clay-limestone slopes, allowing Merlot Blanc to develop, focusing on aromatic finesse rather than power. July and August delivered steady, dry heat, gently ripening the fruit while preserving a vibrant natural acidity. Come September, calm and favorable harvest conditions gave growers the freedom to pick at perfect maturity, parcel by parcel. In the cellar, a light hand prevailed, emphasizing purity, freshness, and minimal intervention. The 2023 vintage in Blaye ultimately reveals a story of resilience and precision—yielding a wine that is supple, fresh, and beautifully expressive of its terroir.
