Marco Brangero
Brangero, Concrete Legacy, Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC, 2023
RedBrangero “Concrete Legacy” 2023 is a vibrant, modern expression of the estate’s philosophy: purity of fruit and transparency of terroir. Fermented and aged entirely in concrete tanks, the wine preserves remarkable brightness, minerality, and refreshing natural acidity while allowing the fruit to shine.
The 2023 vintage offers lively aromas of fresh red berries, subtle floral notes, and a delicate mineral edge. On the palate it is silky and energetic, with fine tannins and a clean, refreshing finish that makes it incredibly versatile.
Equally at home with casual evenings and small bites as it is alongside elegant dishes like filet mignon and mushrooms, this wine bridges everyday drinkability and refined structure. Celerier’s Cellar is the exclusive U.S. importer, making this a truly distinctive and limited offering for our customers.
Currently in transition to SQNPI certification (Sustainable Quality National Integrated System). Practicing integrated pest management and Guyot pruning; all vineyard operations are performed manually except for mechanical hedging. In the summer, green harvesting is utilized to limit yields and ensure optimal ripeness for every cluster. No chemical herbicides are used. After harvest, the soil is enriched with natural fertilizers to rebalance micro-elements and tilled in alternating rows to ensure proper oxygenation.
The must is fermented in wooden vats (tini) with approximately 10% whole-cluster (unpressed). Following fermentation, the wine remains in the vats for about two months to undergo malolactic fermentation. It is then transferred to concrete tanks, where it continues to age for approximately 18 months.
The 2023 Alba vintage was a "winemaker’s year" where extreme heat and early drought were mitigated by essential late-spring rains and cooling September nights. These conditions produced Nebbiolo with lower yields but high aromatic purity, favoring elegance and fresh red fruit over heavy power. For wines aged in concrete, this vintage highlights a soulful, terroir-driven balance between a robust 14.5% ABV and persistent, refined tannins.
Brangero’s terroir in Diano d’Alba is defined by rare Diano Sandstone, a sandy-calcareous clay soil that produces a unique "bridge" style between the power of Barolo and the elegance of Barbaresco. The vineyard’s high elevation and southwest exposure create a significant diurnal temperature swing, ensuring the wine maintains its signature floral aromatics and persistent, velvety structure.
