Tenuta Larnianone
Tenuta Larnianone, Larniano, Chianti Riserva DOCG, 2020
RedTenuta Larnianone’s Larniano Chianti Riserva DOCG is a historic, small-production Chianti from a single hectare vineyard planted in 1972 overlooking the hills of Siena. Made primarily from Sangiovese with small amounts of Colorino and Canaiolo, the wine comes from naturally low-yielding vines that produce remarkable concentration and character.
Aged 18 months in Hungarian oak, it opens with classic aromas of cherry, violet, and wild berries, layered with subtle spice and savory Tuscan herbs. The palate is structured yet elegant, with vibrant acidity, refined tannins, and a long mineral finish.
Production is extremely limited—only about 200 cases are made each year, and just 20 cases were imported for Pennsylvania and Washington DC, making this a rare opportunity to experience a truly boutique Chianti Riserva. Only available in the USA through CeleriersCellar.com.

The wine is produced from a single one-hectare (2-acre) cru planted in 1972 by Ezio Morfini. These vines have reached a distinguished age of 54 years.
The vineyard is managed with sustainable manual operations and uses a spurred cordon training system. There is a strict policy against the use of herbicides. Harvest is conducted by hand with careful selection, and the timing is adapted to each specific section of the parcel.
Grapes are fully destemmed. Each lot is fermented separately in stainless steel vats to segment each parcel and preserve its unique individual qualities. The process includes a 25–30 day maceration period followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation in concrete vats. Manual punch downs and pump overs are utilized during this phase. The wine undergoes an extensive maturation process, starting with 20 months in 500-liter Slavonian oak tonneaux (of which 25% is new oak). It is then aged in the bottle for an additional 18 months prior to its commercial release. This Chianti receives a "luxury treatment," presenting deep cherry and damson plum aromas that mingle with dusty, alluring oak.
The 2020 vintage in Siena benefited from a warm, dry summer followed by crucial September temperature swings that allowed the 54-year-old vines to reach perfect phenolic ripeness. This resulted in a limited production of 2,520 bottles characterized by a "luxury" profile of deep cherry, damson plum, and creamy tannins. Expertly balanced with an aging regimen of 20 months in oak and 18 months in bottle, this Riserva is a vibrant, hedonistic expression of its fossil-rich clay terroir
The estate is located in Siena at an altitude of 275–285 meters above sea level. The soil consists of loose clay enriched with seashell fossils originating from the Pliocene era.
